The rubric used during tryouts represents what Southern Field Hockey expects all players to not only accomplish in tryouts but use as a guide to hold them accountable all season long with attendance, attitude and being a team player being the most important at the top.

A combination of 2 runs and 3-4 skills will be assessed over 4 days, 3 hours each day, August 14th-17th.

Those who do not make the team will be informed after practice day 4, Saturday August 17th.

Monday August 19th and Tuesday August 20th evaluations will continue with Varsity and JV rosters finalized during practice Tuesday August 20th but players may be moved between Varsity and JV as the season goes on based on needs of the team and behaviors (good or bad) of players.

The top 14-18 rubric scores will earn Varsity roster spots.  Varsity level players should be able to accomplish 80-100% of the activities and skills on the rubric.

JV will have a minimum of 14 players, maximum of 22 players and must score 50 points (players are able to accomplish 50% of the rubric).

Players of all skill levels are welcome as long as they have strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

Any player no matter their rubric score may be dismissed from the team due to a negative attitude, lack of participation/effort or disrespect towards coaches or players.

Any player caught Juuling, Vaping, with any electronic smoking devices, products or cartridges at a school or sports events will be removed from the team immediately along with school policy consequences.
